A Bed and Breakfast Supplies the Essentials
If you are looking for a cozy atmosphere while traveling then a bed and breakfast is exactly what you need as a discerning traveler. Compared to a large hotel a bed and breakfast can provide a warm and cozy atmosphere. A bed and breakfast is often a renovated privately owned residence that opens it doors to accommodate travelers. These facilities are often run by a family who contribute to the friendly atmosphere for people who are away from their own homes.
A bed and breakfast supplies exactly what the name suggests: a comfortable bed and delicious breakfast! The travelers who choose to stay at a bed and breakfast get treated more like "house guests" then like a "customer". The bed is usually very comfortable, and the breakfast is usually the equivalent of a satisfying homemade breakfast in contrast to the "continental breakfast" that would be supplied in a large hotel.
A bed and breakfast can be found in many locations around the world. You can find a bed and breakfast in Frankfurt, Germany or in Willemstad, Curacao, in Vermont, USA or in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Usually, a bed and breakfast is located in a residential neighborhood rather than the business or shopping district of a town. This means that guests have an opportunity to see the typical life in the area as opposed to areas usually seen by tourists. Since a bed and breakfast is usually run by local people who have converted a typical home into a boarding house for travelers, you can expect to experience first hand the warm hospitality of the local community.
Just think, you may very well discover not only a warm vacation retreat, but new friends.

I love bed & breakfast accomodation when I can find a nice one to stay in, but unfortunately it is often hard to pick out the good ones. The price is usually a lot more reasonable than a fancy hotel, and if you are just after a place to sleep, and can eat out on a night, etc, then they are good, but sometimes the freedom of a regular hotel (no 'doors close at 10pm' curfew, for example) is a must. I've stayed in some great B&Bs in countryside towns, but some of the ones in more popular destinations are very low quality, with dirty rooms, and poor food.
